Permission to Pause

October rests at the heart of autumn — the air is crisp, the leaves turn to fire, and nature gently reminds us that letting go can be beautiful. Embracing the shift.

During this time, we’re invited to slow down, find warmth within, and reconnect with what truly sustains us.

Self-care this month is about permission to pause — to slow your pace, notice your breath, and savour the moments that bring you peace.

October Self Care Focus - Slowing Down with Intention
This month, practice the art of slowing down — not because you must, but because your body and mind deserve rest.

Here are some gentle Soulshine practices for October:

🕯️ Evening wind-down ritual: Dim the lights, do some gentle body stretches and take 5 mindful deep breaths to let the day go.

🍂 Let something go: A thought, habit, or expectation that no longer serves your growth. Write it down on a piece of paper, crumple it up or burn it to release.

🌧️ Cozy mindfulness: Wrap yourself in a blanket, light a candle, and simply watch the flame for a few quiet moments. Let your mind be present with the flickers of the flame.

🌻 Feeling Rooted: Pause what you are doing and feel your body in the present moment - feel your feet on the ground, the temperature around the room and take a deep breath. Check in with your presence.

Each time you slow down, you honour your wellbeing, nurture your energy and stay aligned with what truly matters.

A Season of Gratitude

Coming out of Thanksgiving, this is a beautiful time to lean into gratitude — not as a forced optimism, but as a grounding practice that soothes the nervous system and shifts perspective from scarcity to sufficiency. It invites you to notice what is working, what is healing, and who is showing up for you.

Try these mindful gratitude prompts this month:

✨ “Today I’m grateful for the way my body supports me by…”

✨ “A small moment of comfort I experienced this week was…”

✨ “A person whom has made a difference in my life recently (or in the past) is ...”

Even small acts of appreciation can bring light to darker days — a reminder that healing often begins with noticing what already nourishes your soul
